How does the AR work?

When you're on site, the app uses your GPS to know you're at the monument and lets you place a 3D reconstruction in AR where you stand. Away from the site, a preview-anywhere mode still shows the 3D model, and a plain 3D view is always available as a fallback.

Can it work without a signal?

Yes. Download an audio guide over wifi before you travel and it plays on site with no data. The app also installs as a PWA so the pages you've opened are available offline.
