AR Personal Trainer

Work out in front of your camera. A live 33-point skeleton overlays your body in real time, an AI form checker scores each rep and calls out corrections, and an AI coach gives voice cues, generates your training programme and analyses your meal photos.

Overview

AR Personal Trainer turns your phone or laptop camera into a coaching studio. You pick an exercise, the camera sees you, and a 33-point pose skeleton is drawn over your body in real time. As you move, the app reads your key joint angles — knees, hips, elbows, back — counts your reps, and every few seconds sends a compact summary of your pose to an AI form checker that scores the movement out of 100 and tells you exactly what to fix. An AI coach speaks cues aloud, builds a training programme from your goals, and analyses a photo of your meal to estimate its calories and macros.

You can try a form-check session with no account at all. Everything personal — your profile, saved programmes, progress, nutrition plans and meal log — lives behind a free login, and premium unlocks unlimited sessions and coaching for a flat monthly price.

This is fitness guidance, not medical advice. Form scores, cues, programmes and nutrition estimates are AI-generated interpretations to support your training — they are not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Stop if you feel pain, and speak to a doctor or qualified trainer before beginning a new routine, especially if you have an injury or health condition.

The four AI pillars

1. AR form check

A MediaPipe Pose landmarker tracks 33 points on your body through the camera and draws a live skeleton overlay — your own AR coach mirror. The app derives the joint angles that matter for the chosen lift (knee and hip for a squat, elbow and back for a push-up), counts reps from those angles, and every few seconds packages a small pose summary and asks the AI form checker to score it. You get a form score out of 100, a clear verdict (good / adjust / stop), and the single most important correction to make next rep.

2. AI coach cues

On top of the per-rep scoring, the AI coach gives short, spoken cues in the moment — the kind of one-line reminder a trainer would call out ("chest up", "drive through your heels", "control the way down"). Cues can be read aloud through the browser's speech synthesis so you can keep your eyes on the movement, and each cue carries a tone so encouragement and safety warnings sound different.

3. Smart training programmes

Fill in your fitness profile — goal, experience level, days per week, available equipment and any constraints — and the AI generates a structured programme: weeks broken into days, each day with a focus and a list of exercises with sets, reps, rest and a short note. Save it, mark one active, and revisit it any time. Programmes are a starting point you adjust to how your body responds.

4. Meal photo analysis

Log a meal by snapping a photo or typing a description. The AI vision model identifies the items on the plate and estimates calories and macros (protein, carbs, fat) for each, plus a rough total and a short verdict against your goal. Your meals build a daily calorie log you can weigh against a nutrition plan's target. Estimates are approximate — useful for awareness, not a substitute for precise measurement or dietetic advice.

Plus: progress & analytics

Your progress dashboard is the post-login home — total sessions, total reps, average form score, current streak and recent workouts, with a small sessions-per-day chart. The analytics view goes deeper: headline stats, a sessions-over-30-days line, and your average form score by exercise so you can see which lifts are dialled in and which need work.

How it works

Set up

Allow camera access and pick an exercise. Pose tracking runs entirely in your browser — nothing about the video leaves your device.

Move

Do your reps in view of the camera. The skeleton tracks you, reps are counted, and a form score with the top correction appears as you go.

Coach

Ask for a voice cue, listen to corrections, and adjust the next rep. Finish a set to save the session with its reps and form scores.

Plan & track

Generate a programme from your profile, log meals by photo, and watch your form and streaks trend on the dashboard and analytics.

Privacy & data

The camera runs on-device. Pose tracking happens in your browser with an on-device model. Your video feed is not uploaded or recorded — only a small numeric summary of joint angles is sent for scoring, never the images themselves.

Anonymous to start. You can run a form-check session without an account; anonymous sessions are counted locally against a free limit and are not tied to a personal profile.

Meal photos. When you choose to analyse a meal, the image is sent to the AI vision model to estimate its contents. Only meals you explicitly log are stored against your account.

Accounts & deletion. Registered athletes can delete their account from within the app and via a public deletion request page.

Payments. Premium payments are processed by the payment gateway; card details are never stored by the app.

Not medical advice. Form scores, cues, programmes and nutrition estimates are general fitness guidance, not a diagnosis, treatment or dietetic prescription. Stop if you feel pain and consult a professional.

Data model

Core tables (prefix APT_). Every table carries soft-delete and audit columns.

TableHolds
APT_UsersRegistered athlete accounts, with premium status and expiry.
APT_FitnessProfilesThe athlete's goal, level, height, weight, age, gender, days per week, equipment and constraints.
APT_WorkoutProgramsAI-generated training programmes: name, goal, level, week/day/exercise plan (JSON), active flag.
APT_WorkoutSessionsA completed workout: exercise, duration, total reps and average form score (user field empty for anonymous sessions).
APT_SetDataPer-set detail within a session: reps, tempo and notes.
APT_FormScoresIndividual form-check scores captured during a session, with verdict and cue.
APT_NutritionPlansNutrition plans: target calories and macros derived from the athlete's goal.
APT_MealLogsLogged meals: type, description, photo, estimated calories and the AI analysis (JSON).
APT_SubscriptionsPremium subscriptions: plan, amount, dates and payment status.

Identity uses the shared account kit scoped to product APT. Every activity table stores the kit user id in its user field, or leaves it empty for anonymous form-check sessions. The analytics view reads APT_usp_GetAnalytics, which returns headline counts, sessions per day for the last 30 days, and average form score per exercise — all scoped to the signed-in athlete.

Future roadmap

More tracked exercises

Extend joint-angle rep detection to more movements — deadlift, row, hip hinge and single-leg patterns — each with its own form rules.

Adaptive programmes

Let programmes adjust automatically week to week based on the form scores and reps you actually log.

Mobility & warm-up flows

Guided mobility and warm-up routines tracked by the same pose engine, with tempo cues for each movement.

Reminders & streak nudges

Optional session reminders and streak nudges over WhatsApp to help the habit stick.

Wearable integration

Bring in heart-rate and activity data from wearables to enrich session summaries and recovery guidance.
